Welcome to DancyMeals. This Privacy Policy explains how DancyMeals ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our platform, accessible at dancymeals.com and through our Progressive Web Application.

DancyMeals is a digital marketplace connecting freelance cooks with customers for meal ordering and delivery, primarily operating in Cameroon. By using our services, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you register for an account, we collect:

  • Full name and display name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (used for order communication and mobile money transactions)
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Preferred language (English or French)

2.2 Cook-Specific Information

If you register as a cook, we additionally collect:

  • National ID card photo (for identity verification during cook application review)
  • Business name, description, and specialties
  • Business location details (town, neighbourhood)
  • Mobile money account details for payout processing

2.3 Transaction Information

For orders and payments, we collect:

  • Order details (meals selected, quantities, delivery preferences)
  • Delivery address and neighbourhood
  • Payment transaction references via our payment processor (Flutterwave)
  • Discount codes applied

2.4 Usage Information

  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited and features used
  • Search queries and filter preferences
  • Push notification subscription data

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Process and fulfil meal orders between customers and cooks
  • Process payments via mobile money through our payment partner Flutterwave
  • Calculate and distribute cook payouts (90% of order value, minus applicable commission)
  • Verify cook identities during the application process
  • Send order status notifications, delivery updates, and promotional communications
  • Provide customer support and resolve complaints
  • Improve our platform, detect fraud, and ensure food safety compliance
  • Generate anonymised analytics for platform performance and business insights

4. Payment Processing

DancyMeals uses Flutterwave as our third-party payment processor for mobile money transactions. We do not store your full mobile money account credentials on our servers. Payment data is processed securely by Flutterwave in accordance with their privacy policy and applicable financial regulations.

Cook payouts are processed to the mobile money number registered with their business account. A platform commission (default 10%, configurable per cook) is retained before payout.

5. Data Sharing

We share your information only in these circumstances:

  • Between cooks and customers: Order-related information (name, delivery address, phone number) is shared between the cook fulfilling your order and you, the customer, to facilitate delivery.
  • Payment processor: Transaction data is shared with Flutterwave to process payments.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by Cameroonian law or valid legal process.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with industry-standard protections including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Hashed passwords (never stored in plain text)
  • Rate-limited API access to prevent abuse
  • Role-based access controls for platform administrators
  • Activity logging for security audit trails

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and review your personal data through your profile page
  • Update or correct your account information at any time
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of promotional notifications through your notification settings
  • Export your order history and transaction data

8. Cookies and Local Storage

DancyMeals uses essential cookies and browser local storage for:

We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

9. Push Notifications

With your consent, we send push notifications for order updates, delivery status, and promotional offers. You can manage or revoke push notification permissions at any time through your browser settings or your notification preferences on the platform.

10. Children's Privacy

DancyMeals is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will take steps to delete their account and associated data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email or platform notification. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
